“A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches.”

This is saying it’s better to be a good person than be someone who is opposite of good. When you have a lot of things it doesn’t matter what matters is who you actually are as a person because you want to be remembered as something not because of the things you had. If you’re the type of person that wants to be remembered for who they are then be a good person.
